I found out this weekend that my M 92 rossi is a single shot for the time being, the shell stop that keeps the cartriges in the mag is screwing up and letting a shell into the lifter area and causing a jam. I haven't pulled it apart yet to take a look but I figure I would ask here and see if anyone has had this problem before and has any tips .

The problem is that the cartridge stop is either bound up with crud or the cartidge stop spring is broken. You can try moving the cartridge stop with your finger to see if it moves freely and see if there is any spring tension. If you need to replace the spring you can do so with out taking the rifle apart. You can remove the left cartridge guide with the bolt open and the carrier pushed down and removing the screw that holds it in place. Springs are available from "M&M Gunsmithing" phone 703-739-2150.

Thanks for all the great advice , took the rossi apart last night and gave it a real good cleaning, there wasn't much spring tension so it was either crud or the spring it the wrong place , I fumble finger the parts onto the floor so i don't know if the spring was in the right place to start but after the third reassembly i found out there is a few ways to put that spring in but only one is right :groner: but it is back together and seems to be cycling well, time to go out and send some boolits downrange:smile:

Make sure the spring is properly installed. It should be putting tension on the pivoting part. I had my improperly installed for a while, and basically didn't work at all.
