Auto reset rifle target build

I have been working on an auto reset rifle target based on the Larue target, using a 2/3 sized (idpa/uspsa) AR500 target. The cam is working on a pin from the bottom (grade 8 3/8" bolt cut off). There is a spring counter bored into the 1" shaft to keep the cam against the pin by pushing back on the motor. I used double split set collars to allow for adjustment.

I liked the proximity sensors that the larue used but I didn't want to waist the few I have (expensive) for such a simple job so I used some $.99 surplus limit swtiches that I had.

Stop limit open (target up and 270 degrees rotate ready for reset)

Here are the batteries mounted and the on off switch that goes at the rear of the cover, recessed in a section of pipe to keep the lever from getting knocked off.

I didn’t like the looks of the motor torquing against the plate, even though it would have lasted for years, I added two oil-lite rollers to keep it level and let it roll back and forth without friction.

I'll complete the welding and use 1/2" plate and a cross tie to protect the front this weekend for testing and order AR500 when I get a chance.

I finished the first one today. Here is a photo of the bottom plate after a light sand blast the bolt is for a rubber damper off a VW bug.

Here is the cover I used 1/2" rod to protect the swtich and charge ports and give you something to grab onto.

Thats real nice; Im curious what the motor/gearbox is

It's a 24v dc gearmotor, why I had to use two batteries. A few years ago I was given a box of them and an extra battery costs less than a gear motor.

I have a turning target that I made up using a windshield wiper motor.

Does it labor any standing the target up, I imagine if its geared right its probably no problem. Dc motors have the torque

It's a lot more than the larue 124#'s. I am not building any for sale though.

Nice, Here is my turning target. More for bullseye shooting, 10 and 20 second face time, also have a 2 second face time for practicing.

Wiper motor, a couple timers and relays. I have a wired remote that controls everything from the firing point

We took it out last Saturday and tested it with my 10.5" AR (the loads don't make PF) and it worked fine but my 9mm minor loads didn't drop it with low hits at 65 yds so I added an adjuster so you can trim the plate for greater sensitivity, so we can use it in pistol matches too. It requires no tools and only takes a few seconds to set. I also drilled a .090" hole through the adjuster and inserted a section of weed eater cord to act as an internal nylock so it stays put regardless of vibration.

Nice work. What pushes the motor/rotor assembly over once the target is stood up?

None for sale, they would cost more than the larue.

Not sure exactly what your asking about the motor/rotor but the motor only rotates clockwise. It also is only enguaged with the target for 90 degrees of its rotation. So once the target is reset, it snaps to the left side from an internal spring and continues around ready for the plate to fall again.

That's what I was asking. When I read through the thread the first time, I didn't get the part about the internal spring pushing the cam over so it could finish it's rotation. When I watched the video, I was trying to figure out how it was moving to the left, since I didn't see anything on the cam that would force it over.
