Finally got to try this 296 with the Lee 310. I think I really like this in the 44mag.
21gr and I was expecting it to rip my arm off. Well it didnt.
But it was very accurate. It done very well out of my Rossi 92 as well.
Had some loaded up for the 357 as well, but I didnt take them with me.
Had to settle with 2400 for it today.
All in all, it was a better day than workin.

good deal!

I have some 296 but have yet to try it in my 44, as I love 2400 and have lots of it.

I really like 2400 as well. 296 was alot cleaner. I wouldnt switch just cause of that.
2400 seemed to have a longer felt recoil than 296. Ifyouknowwhatimeanvern.

Ekalb2000 you did not mention what primer that you used? I have found by some arm bending by 44Man that a standard primer gave better groups than the Mag Primer. So you can give that a try as well.

I do not know how old your W-296 is but now W-296 and H-110 is said to be the same powder.

So you are very correct 21.O Gr does shoot well but some do better with 21.5Gr of W-296 and the Lee 310Gr RNFP GC.

I size mine at .431 .

I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter in .44 Mag. Fine little pocket pistol lol.

Its a new pound of powder. And i used regular primers. I had read what 44man said about the mag primers.
Can .5gr make that much of a difference?

I find that 296 is one of the most versatile powders available for heavy magnum loads. I use in in the 357mag, 357max, 44mag, 45LC, 454 casull, 460 S&W and 500 S&W. It usually performs best for me with heavy boolits in moderate to full loads. I have not had any success with downloading it and there was a warning about doing so with this powder.

Yes, 21.5 is the most accurate. Groups will tighten to that point, then start to open again at 22 gr.
It is a wonderful boolit and busts deer like crazy. I make mine pretty hard (22 to 25 BHN.) and use Felix or Carnauba Red on them. No tumble lube, it leads my bores.

All you can do is try the 21.5Gr and see how it does. Have Fun :)
