I noticed that a number of folks add JPW to Alox. Does it help prevent leading, or make the boolits less sticky?

tried it for the first time this week.

Huge difference, no sticky ****, no week long drying time and doesnt gum u p me seating die with gunk.

Man I wished I found out about this earlier (been using straight alox for about 2 years)

On my high velocity stuff I mix 50/50 JPW/Alox, melt over heat and then dip the boolit noses, after the ammo is loaded. Works good.

I heat my boolits to 200 degrees in the oven for 15 minutes, then pour equal amounts of alox and JPW over them, tumble a bit, then stand them up to dry. The warm boolits get a better covering this way, and they dry quickly. They usually take about 20 minutes to be dry enough to load.

JPW contains some carnuba wax. Carnuba leaves the bore shiny clean...

You can also buy pure Carnuba on Ebay, if you'd like the pure stuff without the smell.

So is the JPW melted down just to get the Carnuba? Cause I've got plenty of carnuba I can just mix with the LLA in that case. What else of benefit is there in the rendered JPW?

JPW also contains some solvents that can make mixing in with the alox easier. Straight carnuba wax/alox will prolly have to be heated pretty highmelt the carnuba to get it to mix.
