The lee 310 WFN-GC shoots great in every 44 I've tried it in.

It seems that a lot of 44mag shooters are preferring the 300+ grain boolits to the 240s and such. Personally , I really like the 240 range.

I shot the Lyman (Keith)429421 back in the 70's over 25 grs of 296 out of a Super Blackhawk. I managed 28-32 using that combo which would probably not be too competitive today. I never lost a Ram that I hit with that load. I would base my accuracy requirements on staying inside the area of the turkey body at 150m, that's the toughest target to hit.

PS. on 300 gr boolits--you can run into front sight problems (need a higher one) due to increased recoil and barrel time. With my SBH rear sight all the way down the gun would shoot 6" high at 50 yds with 300 gr slugs.

My sentiments EXACTLY. I top off at the 280 grain mark. After that point of impact is way too HIGH, not to mention the RECOIL and also a waste of LEAD!

686 I have that gun and have been shooting 240gr RNFP/SWC bullets out of it for years now I cast them out of ww with a Magma mould it is a 2 cavity and they can be converted to handles for those that don't have a master caster if you would like to try some I will send you a hand full if you pay the postage D Crockett

My SRH likes the Lee 240 gr. GC SWC. Cast w/ ACWW. You can load these from mild to wild and I get no leading with LLA and dusted with mica. My Handi likes this boolit also. My SRH has a Millett red dot on it and I was busting clay pigeons at 50 yds that someone had left on the range backstop. I just got this gun and it surprised me with this boolit.

what size do you size your 44 bullers for the ruger? i was thinking .430 or .4305 .

Both of my SBHs have throats in the .431 - .432" range, so I use .431" boolits. As long as the boolits are larger than groove diameter and will still slip through the throats you'll probably be fine.

If you go with 300 grain bullets, the front sight height might indeed be a problem. I called Ruger and they sent me the tallest one they had, free of charge.

I shot the same thing in IHMSA and my favorite bullet was the lee 240 SWC, with a Gas check and my alloy it ran about 255gr.

My pet load was about 16grs of AA#9 for a velocity of about 1100fps.

Never failed to take a ram. I was Unlimited AA and Revolver A when I shot, so it was accurate enough for me, took a few regional titles with that round.

I've got that same pistol that I had the barrel cut down to six and a half inches it really likes boolits sized .431 and .432. It seems to like the keith bullet with 2400 best of all.
