Does anyone have any good 41 special bullets or molds they could reccomend. I just got my gun back and i need ideas for bullets. My 195 grain lee swc works decent, and its the only mold i have for it. Im thinking about buying a mountain mold, but id like some design ideas. If anyone has saved their design page from mountain molds program that would be great.

The 41 Special doesn't seem to care. Mine shoots commercial 215 SWCL, jacketed or plated bullets just fine. Everything goes into about 2.5" at 25 yards with ten-shot groups. With darn near any load, to boot.

When I need a mould for it (I have a few thousand bullets on hand) I think I'll try the Lee 210 - and I bet my revolver loves it.

Hey ive read some of your articles before Rocky excellent 41 special article. Your article was one reason i went ahead with the project. It is my first custom revolver, and i love it. You have the Clements with a birdshead frame if i remember right, good looking gun. I think im gonna try the bullet exchange on here and try to round up several different designs to try out. Ive casted up some of the Lee 195 grainers in 41 cal and some Lee 44 cal tumble lube 44's to trade. Thanks for the info man.

I would think that MIHEC's 41 hollow point would be a great one.

Don't own a .41 Spcl but I would bet any good .41 mag bullet would work. If you can get a discontinued Lyman 410459 that might be good. RCBS currently makes a 210 gr SWC that is pretty nice also. SAECO has the broadest selection in .41 and have several good designs. And Lee used to make a 240 gr SWC that works good too. This might be the easiest and cheapest to acquire.

The .41 caliber is somewhat of an orphan and the choice of molds is limited unless you go custom.

Mine also seems to shoot anything from 170grjhp to 200gr to 210 jacketed, and 205 to 220gr cast just fine. It seems to be hard to go wrong.

I shoot the lee 210 semi wad cutter in my 41 mag and it simply puts em they are pointed :)
found the magic formula on the bullet and expansion is awesome retains 198 out of the 210 grain
and I did some off the wall ideas but it seems to be what the ruger likes
the bullets are a little softer then 11brn. I ran then upside down thru the lee sizer and putting a home made 44 gas check on it while going thru upside down gets neatly seal on the base of a non gas check bullet
the bullet went thru 4 wet phone books at 80 ft
here is before and after and if you look closely you can still see the gas check

personally I think all .41 are special-- but that is beside the point \Lees 210 --mine ran about 230 tld is much better than the 195 swc --hands down in my normal .41
the 410459 gave the smallest groups at 100 yards of any .41 mold--mhia last GB for the .41 is great -- hps run 190-195 and the solids are lfngc at around 220 grs-- last I heard he still had a few left over -- this mold would let you cast either the hp or the solid as it is cramer style-anything done by Dan at MM is also great -- his own choice in bullets is a short Truncated nose and a meplat for the purpose -- hunting .80%-- anything else or not hunting only go down to say .28-.30 --he likes a longish body which the short nose forces -- --of course the choice is yours-- 200gr would sound good if I had one--
On the vender page there are several guys on this board you might look at-- and check on going GBs
if one were to want a 410459 go to MM and make -- it would be very easy
I have a hollow point 410459 single cavity and it will shoot very well better than me
it will run a little over 200gr and once you get the hang of it you can cast it pretty fast-- I do not have a .41 special but who knows but I have a 41/.454 and .41/.445 as well as a couple of normal .41s currently it is the only caliber I own in a hand gun-- other than molds no real temptation to own anything different--more guns would be nice thou just my ramblings. shoot on.41 lovers
