I recently picked up an RCBS Lubsizer -1. My problem is that none of my H&I dies fit deep enough into the body to allow the locking cap to screw into the body about 3 threads or the H&I die sticks out above the body about 1/4"

Where in my Lyman 450 they are almost flush and the locking cap screws all the way down.
I cleaned this L/S and the bottom of the body where the H&I die fits is flat. Is that part supposed to have a bevel to mate up with the bevel on the bottom of all H&I dies ?

Any Help will be greatly appricated, hopefully this unit will not have to go back to RCBS

I picked up an original lub a matic a few months back and had the same problem. When I bought mine, there was a die that came with it that had been cut down .25" and that fit fine.
I went round and round with RCBS as to possible causes and they finally asked me to send it in for them to check on it. Few weeks later they sent me a new LaM 2 and no explanation. I think the casting was either too shallow or just wasn't reamed/cut deep enough.

Doc,
Thanks, I'll pick up a flat rate box tomorrow and let RCBS figure put that there is a problem.

The push rod at the bottom of the press may be adjusted up to far, with the handle all the way up this stops the die from entering the cavity enough, lower the push rod or as you screw in the nut lower the handle, eather should allow the die to seat deeper, if it doesn't, then send it to RCBS.

The L/S -1 was sent back to RCBS, returned it saying every thing was fine, the locking die nut should stick up .060 +- when the H&I die is bottomed out.
Mine "bottoms out @ .100
What does your look like ??

Hello again Col. Sir:

When I had my LS-1 I didn`t have that sort of problem you are experiencing. I only sold mine to a new caster for no other reason than to help him out, even if he was ex-Navy. I now have both the LS-2 and 2 Lyman 450 of which none of them extent up to the height yours does.Robert

Now that you mention it, my RCBS LAM does the same. I carefully snug it and have had no issues of leakage from top or bottom of the sizer die.

Hi, my LAM-1 has the same setup, the nut holding the die does not seat all the way down, sits proud as in above pics.

Mine doesnt go all he way down on mine either but it works fine. But all my dies have o-rings i can see where you may have a prob if youre die didnt.
