Well, the "baby" took his first steps today. I cast a few bullets with some of the moulds I was given a few weeks ago. This was my first ever attempt at bullet casting.
So, how'd I do?
First pic is of some 358429 170gr. Keith SWC's. These suckers are HUGE ... came out of the mould at .362!!!

Next is some of the 358315 RN HP GC. I can't wait to try these out of my NEF 357 Max. I might be able to shoot these straight from the mould. They were dropping at .359.

Here is a pic of my setup.
Turkey fryer base, with an old cast pot I ws given some time ago, an old slotted spoon to skim with, and a soup ladle that I bought at a second hand store for a quarter.

A few days ago I melted some wheelweights, fluxed with an old candle, skimmed until all the crap was gone, poured into igots. Today I melted the ingots and started casting.
I am pretty pleased that I only had to put about 5 bullets back into the melt before I started getting the appearance I wanted.
I suppose I am hooked now ... gotta find some more wheelweights.
And I can now proudly use this smiley ... :castmine:
