Anyone using this newer powder?

I was given 3/4 lb of it by the fella that owns the local shop as it was a bit too slow for his intended purpose in his 308W.

So far I have tried some in my 35 Whelen with the BRP 360-220 and in my 7X57AI with redskins. My conclusions thus far is that it is a good powder. It burns like a slightly slow lot of H4350 and meters more like a ball powder. It grouped right in with my H4350 360-220 whelen loads and I am liking it alot.

It is a short short stick powder with rounded ends and kinda looks like miniature tic/tac or JUJU Fuit candies. I have been loading either H414 (for en mass' cast boolit loading, ....no trickling just throwing the charges) or H4350 (trickled charges for hunting loads) and this powder might just put an end to using both powders as it burns similar to both and it meters like the slippery H414 (W760) ball powder. I still want to tweak and wrestle with it a bit, but I feel a winner coming on for Hodgdon. It is available in 8lb jugs for about $120 bucks......I might just add that jug to my Christmas list if the results keep playing out favorable as they have so far.

I have used it with jacketed loads in a .257 Roberts. It is apparently THE powder for that application, producing at least 100fps more than can be achieved with 4350.

I haven't tried it, but would be real interested in a direct comparison with Rl-15 in the Whelen, with full power loads.

I worked up a load for one of my .243's using it and Nosler 100gr Solid base bullets.

THe bottom lest two targets are using two different primers. The fliers are from the barrel getting warm and the channel needed a bit of relieving. Overall, like was mentioned, it has shown to have about 50 - 100fps on other powders I tried and much better accuracy.

Not sure how it will do with cast as I don't have any for my rifles, but for jacketed I am hopeful that it will work out equally as well.

41 Mag,

You might want to check out BABore's new 6mm boolit mold for the 243. The sample boolits I got from him worked well in my 244 and my 6mm TCU rifles. Of course Bruce being the boolit crack dealer he is, only sent me enough to wet my appetite. :drinks: Experience has shown me he builds really nice molds. I have 2 ordered and will be picking them up really soon.

Looks intersting , I did some reading and looks like it was designed with WSM's in mind. I may have to pick up a can to try in my heavy target 300 WSM. The IMR website shows pretty good velocity with it and heavy bullets.
