here i have been scouring the town for ww/pewter/tin/etc... for months.

haven't seen any thing for ever.

so i just ordered 20lbs of tin/solder yesterday.

and of course today i stopped at a yard-sale and what do i see but a whole crop-load of pewter beer steins, a large platter, and a really fancy tea set.

i got all the steins and platter for $16, but she wanted $50 for the tea set, and it was only 2lbs or so.

so ended up with 7lbs 7.8oz of pewter for $16.

that's 1/2 of what i needed for 1/10th of what i paid.

well now im flush with tin at least.

Just amortize the cost of the yardsale pewter into the cost of the solder, and it's like you got a great deal on all of it!

Yup, sometimes it works that way. Keep your eyes peeled, you never know what will turn up.

Good shooting! :drinks:

pewter is 96%(ish) tin. and can usually be found for a few $$ a pound. unlike pure tin, or even tin solder that can get $20 a pound.
