You won't want to bother once you make a disk puncher.
What caliber are you working with??

Making gas checks for those are no great mystery. With a little research and planning, you'll be able to figure it out. Here's some links you might want to look at:

Plus there's plenty of ideas for making your own disk puncher here in the forums.

The disc punch is the easy part and as WILCO said there are several ideas here on the forum.
You can even make both .44 and .45 checks from the same disk.
.44 cal will be little deeper and .45 cal shallower than regular checks, but they still work :-D.
On left .45 check with forming tool and on right .44 check with forming tool, behind those, double ended die to form checks and disk cutter.
