Scot Solo 1500 shotgun/pistol powder

I bought a sealed large box at a recent auction that said simply "reloading powders". In the box was 10 one lb. cans of powder, some half full some full. I found 4 cans of Scot Solo 1500 shotgun/pistol powder still full. I can`t seem to find anything for this stuff. Anybody have a load manual of theirs or pistol data available?Robert

Solo 1500 was in the range between Herco and Blue Dot. It was only produced for a short time.. I tried it and then switched back to Blue Dot.. I might be able to find some loads utilizing it.. I may have an older Scot Powder manual with data.. I'll have to sift through my "stuff" to see if I can find it.

I couldn't find the Scot Data book I used to have but I did find several steel shot loads for 12 gauge utilizing Scot Solo 1500. It was in the same class as the slower pistol/shotgun powders.. Herco, Blue Dot, 540 and 571, HS6, HS7, and SR 4756. If I were to have that much on hand, I'd start with a starting load of Herco (one of the faster powders listed above) and work my way up checking pressure and velocity. 10 pounds is a fair amt and I wouldn't waste it.

That's why I keep old manuals! From my 1992 (7th Edition) of the Scot Powder Company Loading Guide:

Solo 1500 - A slow, ultra-clean burning single-base disc powder ideal for .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .44 Magnum and 10mm silhouette loads with heavier bullets. Similar to SR4756. Also excellent in 10, 12, 16 and 20-gauge hunting loads with lead. Some applications for 12-ga steel shot loads.

The brochure has loads for32 H&R Mag and up, including 38 Special, 9mm, 380 ACP, 38 Super and all the mentioned Magnums plus 45 ACP. I have no personal experience with Solo 1500, but can quote some listed loads. Probably best to PM me for those.

I have about 5 lbs. of scot 1500 powder and need any info on 12 ga. [smilie=b:specs for skeet reloads .Any info would help thanks

Solo 1500 is kind of too slow for skeet reloads.. it was somewhere in the range of Blue Dot/SR 4756 as I recall.. BPI had some steel shot hunting loads with it back in the day..
