I have come up with a wonderful thumper load with the RCBS 45-405-FN. Now I'm wanting a light load for my Marlin 1895. I have put some together with 12 gr. of Unique and 1 grain of polyester pillow stuffing as a filler. Won't get to shoot them for a few days, but was wondering if any of you all have similar loads and had good results with the use of a filler. I like the idea of using such a small amount of powder. Got the data from the Lyman manual. Velocity should be 1050 fps or so.

I have loaded 300 gr Laser Cast over 10.3 gr Universal Clays. Used a 1.5" square of polyester filler between powder and bullet. The polyester filler was bought at a quilt shop, and was about 1/8" thick for use as a lining in a vest, etc. Cuts nicely into consistent squares on a cutting board with a rotary cutter.

Chronographed 969 fps average at 10 ft from the muzzle of a Guide Gun.

Lots of fun!

I have both the 300 FP and the 350 RNFP and use 16gr of 2400 or 12 of Unique for hogs. Does fine and literaly no recoil in my Marlin 1895. I just loaded 10 rounds, 5 each, with 16.0 (300) and 15.5 (350) with IMR Trail Boss. should hit about 1200-1250 FPS. Gonna try them inna morning. Book sez that 16.5 of Trail Boss and the 300FP should hit the 1295 range. We will see. :)
