I know Dale53 is just as fond of .44Special revolvers as I am ! How about the rest of you?

Post some photos of your favorites !

Am am currently waiting on delivery of my very first single action revolver. It is a new Lipsey's Ruger 4 5/8" .44Special Bisley but I will not be able to pick it up until next month. :( In the mean time all I have is a few S&W double action HEs to play with ! :) :)

Some mighty fine handgun and boolit porn posted above. I'm muddling through with a S&W Model 624 x 6.5" currently, and Lyman #429421 combines well with 7.5 grains of Unique and CCI 300 primers in WW cases. 15.0 grains of 2400 is a lively loading, also--about 1100 FPS, with either the Keith casting or the Thompson SWC/GC #429244.

A photo on the board is at the upper limits of my computer skills, and I'm away from home at present. I'll see what I can do once back at The Ranch. For now, have a look at the 624 x 6.5" above, it is equipped identically with the Pachs. its brother the 657 x 6" and an older cousin (pre-27 x 6.5") round out the N-frame family in the gun safe. All are deserving of better photography than I can muster, I'm hoping my step-daughter can assist with this photo venture.

This target is about the best I have shot from ANY revolver. I was shooting the 6½" Model 624. Standing at 25 yards. I was shooting in front of several people. I had not shot the revolver for some time and couldn't remember where it was sighted (at POA or for six o'clock). So, the first shot I held for the ten ring and if it was sighted for six o'clock then it would be in the "X" ring and if POA then I would still have a ten (I was in pretty good shooting shape at that time). It turned out I had it sighted for POA for field use. You can see what happened. Could I do this everytime on demand, NO - but often enough to try. Of course, everyone watching was "blown away" as they thought I could do this on demand (I did not disabuse them of this notion[smilie=1:). The load was the "Skeeter" load - 7.5 grs of Unique behind the Lyman 429421.

I've got a couple .44 Specials made on Ruger Old Model 3 screw frames, a pair in "Vaquero" style and one still with adjustable sights and 7 1/2" barrel. The set also sport cylinders in 44-40, so they are convertibles as well. I had the "Vaqueros built, but built the long barreled one myself. Used a Super Blackhawk barrel and Qualite brass grip frame. Here's a pic:
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1620/1303399/7384995/320941600.jpg

And here's shot of one of the set with 44-40 cylinder installed, not much room for a longer cartridge, but it does real well with a 205 gr bullet, Lyman 429666, and 33 grains of KIK 2F. Just shot them with that load in a Cowboy Match last weekend, they do go boom. I have .429 throats in the cylinders and have to use Winchester brass to make them work, thinner brass in the throat area.
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1620/1303399/7384995/357812246.jpg

And the other end of the cylinder with the 44-40's in it, no more room here either.

I always enjoy your photos. For some reason, I was never able to come up with the Lyman wadcutter mould. Fortunately, I WAS able to get in on the 200 gr wadcutter Group Buy. I am still working with that one but have done well with 4.0 grs of Red Dot in .44 Special cases. I haven't yet been able to chronograph that load. Will do, shortly.

Lots of nice .44's in this thread. Nice people with them, also.

If you'll check my avatar you'll see I'm holding a SW 296, a 5 shot hammerless alloy frame .44 Special. Picked it up 3-4 years ago for $335 at a local gun show. The guy had four of them, three were new at $500+, the one I got had five rounds put thru it. It has CT lasergrips on it. It's a nice light little beast, my winter carry gun.

Can't imagine this weight gun chambered in .44 Mag as SW has done with some of their other N-frames!

I really have all of the .44 revolvers that I "need". However, I will admit that if I am offered a 696 at a "buyable" price I'll probably have to blow the moths from my wallet and have one. That seems to be a VERY nice concept.

It should make a nearly perfect "Trail Gun". I would have to replace those pretty grips with some Pachmayrs for my use, however. I wish these were current with S&W - I would just get one.

In the meantime, I will just have to "make do" with my Model 24, the 624's, or my .44 Lipsey Special:groner:...

I believe the Colt New Frontier is one of the most handsome revolvers ever offered.

I still mourn the occasion, many years ago, when I had a "one time" chance to buy a New Frontier in .44 Special in excellent condition for a VERY reasonable price. I am still kicking myself for passing it by. In addition to its downright beauty, with adjustable sights it is thoroughly practical.

My recent Ruger .44 Lipsey Special will now have to do me (and I believe it is up to the job:mrgreen:).

253017253018 Glad this got resurrected. Love those 44 spls my self. Here is my Hand Ejector from the 1920's and a new model 24 nickel made just before they discontinued that finish. 429421's in both with Unique.

Since I'm electronically challenged and can't do pics I'll just list what I have. 3" 24-3, 4" 24-3 and my first 44 special the 6.5" barreled 624. Shooting the 624 is like a light loaded 38 spl with the Winchester 200 grain silvertip. Lotta fun. had to laugh one day as someone mistook it for a 44 mag. Since I got into 44 spl my Ruger Redhawk 44 mag just sits in the safe. Frank

My pair gp100 3" and a Bisley
Have not shot the GP100 yet but the Bisley made me want more 44 specials.
