I'm looking at shooting the two day Appleseed program early this summer down here in GA, and the range we'll shoot on has targets to 300 yards. I've got the Lee 309-200-1R that drops at 202 grains w/water quenched WW. I understand the value of the Unique and 2400 loads out to maybe 200, but any of you folks have boolit experience with an '06 to 300? The rifle is a SAKO, 24" sporter BBL in a McMillan glass/pillar bedded stock with the barrel free floated. It will shoot .5-.75 inch first three rounds out of the barrel with J-word 150 grain flat based bullets and a near max load of 4064.

I'm not wedded to this mold if you think there's something better for this task, and open to powder suggestions. I'll load in once-fired R-P brass that has been trimmed, primer pockets cleaned and flash holes deburred. Based on what I've heard and read I'll need to have 150-200 rounds for the high power second day, so I'm looking for a load that will do the job and not beat me up at the same time. All suggestions will be appreciated.

Try that bullet starting with 28 gr of 4895 with a 1/2 - 3/4 gr dacron filler. Increase in 1/2 gr increments to 32 gr or until accuracy goes. I most often settled on the most accurate load in the 1850 - 1900 fps range. I've shot numerous matches (including 300 yards) with other simlilar cast bullets with the above componants. My rifles held excellent accuracy without cleaning (I sized at .311 and used Hornady GCs and Javelina lube). They held 1 1/2 - 2 moa accuracy all day long at 300 yards.
