Would it work to melt lead inside a wood stove in a building? I don't think it would be dangerous because the lead fumes would be going up through the chimney, but I wasn't sure 'cus i've never cast lead before. info PLEASE, thanks.

By melting lead are you casting boolits or smelting WW?
I would not do any smelting inside. Too many fumes.
I have cast boolits indoors for years. Long as the lead is clean to start with I have not had any problems.

I've melted lead in a burning barrel before. A wood fire in a 55-gallon drum with vent holes gives plenty of heat. The non-contact IR thermometer read about 1100 degrees.
