On the 25-27 March I went to wilderness Hunting Lodge to hunt my first boar-- I wanted a woolly booger type hog and I got it-- I am very happy--
I used my 5.5" 41/44--255lwngc from a Mountain Mold-- it has a .331 meplat-- my load was in the middle 1300s using H110-- I saw the boar above and rested up against a tree and held down into the chest and fired -- he was a little back from the edge and I got the edge before I got him -- he took off with mud all over him -- so I thought I had missed--but I found blood and another hunter said he was really struggling to move-- so I started tracking him and searching the blow downs-- the tracks turned into a blood trail and that became him-- as he moved through the trees I hit him off hand at 30 yards+ high in the shoulders and he was unable to move-- one last shot at the back of the ribs --which made a 1+" hole and let out a big gush of steam and he made a deep rumble and and that was about it-- the first bullet went through the leg without hitting the bone-- through the hide and plate and ribs into his chest. Which I though was good for first shooting the mountain-- the others were pass through s-- the reason my load is a little slow is the bullet is just over .7 long and .5+ engrave upon firing --it is accurate and does well it just builds pressure fast or seems to they said the hog weighed about 280 their words not mine of course they wanted me to be happy so it could have gained a little in their telling -- no pigs were harmed in this hunt except the dead one
I was going to use the Miha group mold but I never could get it to shoot right-- found out too late my scope had gone south.. so I changed scopes and used what I had the 255s instead of the 225s-- well maybe next time it was fun
Earlier I say the questions does the flat nose -- big meplat work on cloven hoof animals -- well it does and very well

Well done GLynn41 ~ never seen such a woolie mamoth. Shooting off hand through timber is not easy, good shooting. I'm off hunting hogs next week too ~ your story put me in the right frame of mind so i'm looking forward to it.
