I have a 505 Gibbs that I am, slowly working towards casting bullets for. I have a couple of questions, at this time!
Has anyone cast bullets in this calibre?
And where would I get the dies from.

I live in Canada so a Canadian source might sooth some border problems!

Here is a pic of my rifle!

I cast a 600 grain gas check for the 505. It is loaded with 125 grains of Reloader 25 in Bell cases for about 2000 fps. I am going to try some jamison brass as sson as I can. Dies are from CH4D but get your brass first and measure the rim diameter. The Bell and Jamison are the same, the Bertram is at least .050 variance in the 20 cases I have. Rocky Mountain Cartridge also makes turned brass cases that work well under 38,000 psi.
The effect of an animal taking a 600 grain flat point bullet is final and very certain. Blood trails are very short or non existant, unless you consider the pool of blood underneath the animal as a blood trail.

My shoulder hurts just thinking of the kick. My 50-70 puts out a 630gr at 1400fps and that is stout enough from the bench. If I am going to go heavier, then I will get out my 32lb gun and run a 930gr at 1950fps (125gr 4895)[smilie=1:

I donot find the kick too bad, but then the rifle weighs 12lbs!

I expect that with cast loads, the rifle will be a ***** cat!

.............Okay you da man! I'd have to wrap my head in duct tape to keep my brains from coming out my nose or something. You got elephants in the cabbage patch do ya? I have 26 rounds of test ammo for my 375-06 I loaded in November of '04. I look at them sometimes when I get in the ammo cubboard, the the last range session is still too fresh in my head :-)

RE: Shipping to Canada. I've done that beau-coup times via USPS without issue or delays, and a couple times were group buy Lee Moulds. I sure as heck wouldn't use UPS!

Oh no, I am maybe too solid and have too much 'mass' to move!! I had a 375 H&H that was just wicked my self and I also shot a 30.06 ruger that ratteled my teeth!!

Glad to hear about the shipping and no, I never use UPS, brown is really their colour!!
