View Full Version : New Moulds today -

I acquired the following from a local gentleman today who has given up casting due to high lead levels in his blood. I don't think any of them have been used in the last ten years. They're all in great condition. He used to shoot competitively while in the service (Camp Perry). Told me he placed #11 out of 1000 shooters in the 1000 meter. (I can't see 1000 meters let alone shoot that far.) While at his home he showed me part of his firearms collection. One of the more interesting pieces was an unfired persian bolt action military rifle. It had the test target and wood that was as nice as I've seen on many new sporting rifles. His whole home was basically a gun store. He's in his late-sixties, single, and knows what he enjoys. Good for him.

Anyway I bought the following moulds plus two Lyman 450 lubri-sizers with a complete set of dies and top punches, two lead furnaces, two ingot moulds, about 400 pounds of Lyman #2 ingots, 30 pounds of tin, 150 pounds of pure lead for a very reasonable price. I'll be selling several of the moulds to recover my costs as I am interested in 30, 44 and 357 calibers primarily.

Can anyone here direct me to a good place to find appropriate prices for this stuff?

I'll probably keep the ones with asterisks at the end of the line. The rest will go.

I would like to hear more about the Cramer. What is the nose shape? Is it a GC? Is it with handles? Condition?

............I'm sure surprised there are only 3 replies to this thread so far :-)

So far as resale goes, if the Lee moulds are used, and to someone who knows, and they were actually is good shape then maybe $7-8 bucks would be a reasonable price.

So far as the Lymans go, assuming they too were in good useable condition with no issues I'd suspect currently produced numbers would go for $25-$35 single/double cavity blocks.

Blocks for designs that are NLA, well???????????? It depends on what they were and who was lookig for them. Some popular ones fetch upwards of $80+ on E-Bone.

That H&G might be a real treasure, beyond being a H&G's?

It's in good condition and has handles with it. I'll take a look at it this evening and get back to you with the bullet shape, etc. If I'm not mistaken, this may have been the one for a 257 Roberts cartridge. Again, I'll check this evening.

Thanks for the reference! My eyes are no better than yours. . . but I was impressed that someone had posted that old catalog! I'll take digital photos of the mould/handles tonight and post them.

Hi,

Just browsing and I saw your thread. I have an old Victory S&W that is in excellent shape. Need a 35863, nearly perfect if I can cast a little oversize with it..... also the 360721 might be just about right. The bore of my Victory is .362 (nominal for this revolver), I slugged it the other day. I plan on doing s little swaging if necessary. Thank You for the help. If you are interested, please let me know the prices ..... Steve

I am new to the site but have been reading lots of threads on 38 S&W the past 2 weeks! Great Info.

Those Persian 98/29 Mausers were made by Brno in Czechoslovakia in 1929. They were imported into country about 15 years ago and many were unfired. The quality is outstanding. I have one that is still unfired, but it is calling to me.

I also bought a barreled action and built it up as a classic sporter.
