I like the Henry but detest the plastic barrel band/ front sight so here is my solution. A Lyman bead dovetailed into the top and a mag tube retainer from a Stevens M87 on the bottom and now it's just like a Marlin.

Looks good. I can understand them trying to keep costs down, but surely using metal parts would only add a dollar or so to the price.

I think they would sell a lot more if they looked like that.

I've fired two of the Henry .22 lever actions and never noticed that those parts were plastic.

Very good shooters just the same.

Henry makes them just like the Marlin, just not on the base model.

You can get the metal parts from Henry.

The Henry Standard is plastic for $90.00 more you get the octogon barrel and the metal parts. I have $12.00 total in the whole works.

If you call Henry Arms they might just send you the metal band and sight for free,
I bought mine in combo with the large loop lever, I think the band and sight is around $10.00. I had no problem with the plastic for years I only changed when
I got the large loop lever.

I asked Henry to upgrade my parts and they did.

I'm going to have to do something like that to my daughter's Henry. I have looked for the parts from an Ithaca Model 72, but they are pretty much unobtainium these days.

I like the looks of yours better than the combined band and sight anyway.

I asked Henry to upgrade my parts and they did.

I wanted to do that but they said I could buy the brass band for $24.00 and do it myself.

Mine does not have a brass band I have the standard model. They did the upgrade to mine when I sent it back for a slight problem. Henry is great they pay for the shipping both ways and I had my gun back in less then a week from the time I sent it.
