Did a little damage control on a friend's .45-70 BFR - somehow was discharged with cylinder pin partially loose, locked the cylinder. Many "ding, ding, dings" with a brass punch later pin came out, looks slightly bent. The grip to frame screws are buggered after his many tightenings also, called Magnum Research, they do not have ANY parts for the old DM prefix guns.

I'm not familiar with the inner workings of a BFR; does the cylinder pin have a springloaded plunger on the end like a Ruger or not? If not it would be a fairly simple matter to turn one on a lathe.

You can sometimes repair screw heads by peening the displaced metal back into shape, (you may have to recut the slots if you do this) and polishing the head with crocus cloth against a block of soft wood in a drill press. uuse locktight on the screws when reinstalling them.

Hope this helps,

Robert
