Here is the results of a load I worked up with Miha's 452 HP 200grn boolit.
I was using 5.7 grns of Unique, OAL was 1.16 as per Lymans Cast manual. Shooting out of a 625 S&W Performance Center at 20 yds...spooky accurate.

Yes, it is spooky accurate over 5 grains of titegroup. I was putting all five shots on a piece of paper (8.5x11") at 40 yards without a rest with my Kimber. That is good for me, as I am not the greatest shot!

Did you experience any leading with this load? I also have a 625 but hadn't had a change to load any after I casted some. I'll be using TiteGroup.

I just loaded some 215 gr N.O.E. ACP's with 6.7 grs of Unique and shot them out of a Colt Officers model into some damp sand and got perfect mushrooms. FWIW

I did not get any leading . I was using WW's, towel dropping them of course. My barrel slugs out at .4515 they are dropping .452. They seemed to work great. This group was shot after about 55 rds were fired through the revolver.

Hicard...I also was able to retrieve some out of the sand and they looked to have mushroomed great..where you using WW's ?

BSkerj, yes I was using WW's. I tried 6.5 grs and got a good mushroom and then 6.7 and it opened up a little more. I have since loaded some 6.9 grs but haven't shot them yet.

Hicard, 6.7 was my 2nd best grouping..I went as hi as 7.2. Grouping was starting to loosen up though. Lymans said you could go up to 7.5 but I chose not too. Let me know if you go higher and the results. I just came back in from the man room after casting and lubing about 500 more this afternoon. Reloading tomorrow :D

This thread deserves a picture or two. Here are loaded rounds with the MiHec bullet in .45 Auto Rim cases (7.5 grs of Unique, Federal 150 primers in Starline cases):

As others have shown, these can be VERY effective bullets. At .45 ACP/Auto Rim velocities, 50/50 WW's/Lead + 2% tin should expand very well. It will also be quite malleable and should hold together. Hopefully, I can do some expansion tests, soon.

Just a thought, but my 625-3 is allergic to any relatively soft bullet. They skid pretty severely at low speeds, and high speeds don't improve things any.

Recovered bullets have skidded so severely that the entire bearing surface doesn't have recognizable rifling marks.....they're double wide, at a minimum.

I blame the relatively shallow rifling and very long jump through the cylinder (building up high speed before it strikes the rifling) for this.

The heavier the bullet in relation to its bearing surface, the worse soft bullets skid.

Long bearing surface, shortnose WC's of the target profile (185 button noses) do alright cast out of straight AC wheelweights.
