I have an original Marlin 1894 octagon barrel .25/20 rifle. It has a folding tang peep sight, but the original bead front sight has been sheared off at some time in the past. I ordered a new Lyman gold bead front sight but it is too low. I am hitting about 6" high at 25 yards and have run out of adjustment with the rear sight.
I ordered a taller Lyman gold bead front sight which arrived this week.
However, I went to an auction over the week end and bought a box of old Lyman sights. Included in the box was a Lyman No. 5 front globe folding leaf Beech sight with a 3/8" dovetail.
Do you think the old folding Lyman would be appropriate to use on the Marlin? What would you do?
