I purchased a Lee mold that casts a regular type bullet that has a lube groove in it rather than the tumble lube type. The mold casts a .358 125 grain flat point bullet. I'd like to work up some .357 magnum loads that run about 1100 fps. Can I lube this type bullet with Lee Liquid Alox? I don't have a lubri sizer. Will the liquid alox work okay with this bullet? All information will be appreciated. Thank you.

I have used it on a Lyman 358156 and it workes. I think you'll be just fine.

It'll work fine. Check for leading if going faster. I have taken regular lube groove boolits to a bit over 1200 with no leading using alox. Boolit fit is key.

Just lube them after sizing (alox needs to be on the bearing surface) and I'm sure they will be fine.

You'll be fine. LLA has been around and working far longer than "tumble lube" boolits have.

It will work. I have tried it on virtually every kind of boolit. From micro bands to large bands to no bands. Result was always the same. It as an adequate lube. Certainly not pretty, but does the job.

I've got the 158gr version of your 125gr LRNFP mould. This is what I use for .357 Magnum with 50/50 Linotype/pure lead mixture. All I ever use is liquid Alox, and ZERO leading of my bores is the result.

Like mdi said, make sure you tumble-lube again after sizing, for the reasons he describes.

Forgive the newbie question. What is 50/50 linotype/pure lead mixture?

Forgive the newbie question. What is 50/50 linotype/pure lead mixture?

Equal parts of Linotype (a hard lead alloy) and pure lead (relatively soft). This mixture makes boolits that are tailored for a specific gun/shooting/user.
