The weather is moderating around here (although we did get the "last" bit of snow yesterday) and I hope to have these loaded rounds at the range in a few days with some test results.

I thought perhaps you might enjoy seeing a picture, or three...

Here is the NOE 250 gr SWC (Lyman 454424) Keith style bullet in the .45 Auto Rim:

This one is the MIHec 200 gr H.P. bullet in the .45 Auto Rim:

This one is the MiHec 242 gr H&G #503 Hollow Point bullet in .44 Caliber:

Now, if there is a better line-up, I don't know what it would be (unless it is understood, that soon, we will add the MiHec RCBS 45-270-SAA Hollow Point - then things will be even BETTER)!!

Oh man! That is some great looking ammo. What mold has a HP punch configuration in that shape?

Dale, if you can shoot that stuff shoots as good as it looks, you'll be a local champ! Good work man!

Just got Mihec's mould yesterday and made up a couple hundred of 200grn 452 HP. Going to work up some loads today using Unique. These are great moulds!! He had a couple left over to sell last time I looked on his website, well worth the money! Right now on the machine Miha has a .359 125grn Cramer... it is listed as a 9mm but he gives you a choice of .356 or .359 125grn I had to order it for my 38/357..couldn't help myself after the above results.
As a footnote...just ordered 500 auto rim brass from Starline but they have been backordered until they get enough orders to make a run. I will just have to use my moonclips for my new 625 until then. I think I have spent more money on this revolver than I have on the 3 boys and 1 girl that I have raised !!
GREAT PICTURES DALE...THANKS

MIHec Cramer style hollow point moulds have that point shape available.

I am an EXTREME fan of those bullets.

Those bullets are loaded in my two favorite calibers (.45 Auto Rim and .44 Special). They are alloyed for proper expansion at the velocities those are shot at (950 fps or so) with 50/50 WW's/lead with 2% tin added for castibility.

Thanks for the kind words, fellows.

The 625 is a terrific revolver. I have shown this picture many times but any excuse...

I seem to be able to shoot better targets with this handgun than any other (except my 624 6½").

By the way, the Group Buy for the MiHec RCBS 45-270-SAA Cramer Style Hollow point mould will close in a couple of days (the ideal bullet for .45 Colts IMO). You might want to sign up if you haven't done it already. I am hearing lots of moaning and tearing of hair from those who missed out on the .452 200 gr hollow point mound and the .44 caliber hollow point mould (242 grs H.P. and 258 grs solid). Don't be one of those with tears in your eyes:

Dale, that's a beautiful piece and eye candy that good needs to be flaunted sometimes! Of course, I happen to be a BIG revolver fan, and a fan of BIG revolver calibers too, maybe I'm a little biased? Actually, seeing that thread someone started about how many YARDS his auto throws its brass on firing, and how discouraging it is for a reloader to find it again, just reminded me of how very practical and reloader-friendly these big revolvers are, and why I own very few autos. Now where's my moon clips?!...

lathesmith;
Thanks for the kind words. I have been a .45 ACP/Auto Rim fan for most of my life. In the late seventies and early eighties, I shot 75,000 rounds through my
.45 Autos in a five year period. I was shooting IPSC when it was a "Martial Art" before the gamers took over. I have great resspect for the 1911 platform.

However, in my dotage, I no longer enjoy (if I EVER did) picking up brass and a big bore revolver is my present tool of choice. IMO, the 625 in .45 ACP represents the EPITOME of the big bore revolver. Adequate power for most tasks without all the roar and fuss of the true magnums. I only have two 625's (a 4" Jerry Miculek Special 625-8 and the pictured 5" 625-6). I seem to be able to shoot them equally well but tend to favor the 5". Red Dots have made it possible for me to shoot at the level I used to - I am truly grateful for that.

Could not help not adding mine to the pictures...5"625 "special run"from the Peformance Center, no internal lock, she used to be a safe queen from another owner but I made her into a working girl...she likes to work ! I am just finishing working up my test loads of Miha's 452 HP and should be out shooting it within the hour .
