12.0 Unique or 17g of 5744 work for me.Velocity will be about 1400,but accuracy will be decent.

my yugo m48 with the rcbs 32-170(my 32spl. bullet) sized .323 rem case win primer and 32grs of imr4895 shoots a nickel size group at 50yds. This is with open sights, sandbag rest and my new glasses.Don"t know the speed but recoil is fine.

I just got back from the range shooting this bullet with my 24/47 yugo. Had a couple of different combinations. The best was Win 748. I think it is 45 grains. It is the max load in the Lyman book, so look before you load. Shot only about 2" high at 100 yards. Really pleased me. I was shooting water quenched wheel weights with a bit of tin thrown in the pot. plan on taking a deer with this load in the fall.

I know you didn't include IMR 4198 in your list but it also works well in the 8X57. I use 20 grains of 4198 and a 1/2 grain tuft of dacron and the 323470 in my 24/47. IMR 4198 at 20-23 grs is what I shoot in most of the milsurps.

For those type of loads I would try Unique out of the powders you listed. Lyman Cast Bullet manual lists 13.0 to 17.0 grains of Unique for 1545 - 1820 fps. I would try 14 or 15 grains which should put you right around 1600 - 1700 fps. I have shot very similar loads in a .308 mauser with very good accuracy out to 100 yds.
My go-to load right now in 8mm is 19 gr. of 2400, mainly because I need a little more speed than I can get from Unique for matches out to 200 yds.

I know what you mean,i have a few good ones for 100,but when shooing the 200yd stage CBA matches sometimes those low velocity loads get all the heck beat out of them.I 'll try bumpinging my 16.0 up to 19.0 and see what happens. With the lyman 323378 (245g) and 16.0 of 2400 i get 1450 MV. out of a 29" Turk 98.Where do you shoot your cast bullet matches?

Actually they are not cast bullet matches. I shoot a Yugo 24/47 in a local CMP Springfield/Vintage rifle match. Last year I was only one of two shooting a Mauser (everyone else shoots Springfields) and I was the only one shooting cast boolits. Managed to get a bronze medal (pin actually). That load with the Lee boolit easily shoots well enough to clean the SR-1 200 yd. target. In slow prone I let two shots go a bit low (both were 6 oclock 9's) and ended up with a 98-4x.

Sounds fun! I am going to shoot my Turk 98 at our CMP match in May with cast at the "bolt gun" match. It also shoots well enough to go "clean",its just seeing those little sights that is the issue.
