30 to 45 is the range you want to play in. 45gr is pushing the max....so don't start there!

30gr is around 1300 fps. Nice plinking load.

With that light Encore rifle the fun will stop around 1700 fps. Beyond that and mine hurts, even with a muzzle brake.

Afternoon 223fan,

I ran a bunch of loads over the chrono this past Saturday, All from my RUGER#1-s in 45/70.

Not sure where these fall when considering an Encore, but the following are my results from the #1 w/22'barrel

8 shots w/28gr. H4198 gave an average of 1231fps

3 shots w/30gr. H4198 gave an average of 1305fps

3 shots w/32gr. H4198 gave an average of 1391fps

While 3 shots w/38gr. H4198 gave an average of 1611fps.

Boolet was a 427 - 428gr. from a RCBS 405gr mold w/gas check.

Boolets cast of 20lbs. WW plus one pound of 50/50 solder.

Keep em coming!

Thank You .Im wanting to hit the 15-1600 fps mark if possible.I have to cast some bullets this week.I had a few 405 gr. bullets I played with saturday and made it up to the bottom end of the marlin loads, recoil wasn't as bad as I figured.

I found the loads in the 1200fps range to be very mild, while those in the 1600fps range to have a good deal more recoil.

Not a problem in my #1, which would be in the 8lb. range with scope.

Not sure what the Encore is rated for, but you can see that my 22" barrel gave a tad bit over 1600fps with 38gr. H4198.

Keep em coming!
