Has anyone tried loading a 158 grain 0.358 sized down in a 9MM? If so, what was the powder and charge used? Waiting on my mold and just wonder?????????????? Bullet to long for case capacity?

Thats a subject i've heard yes an no on. Heaviest I've loaded in 9mm para were 132 gr fmj made for 38 super that I go on clearance. 158 is really getting down slow enough you got higher pressure, compressed case volume, and such slow fps that accuracy would be horrible.

If you want a dual purpose mould get you that 110 gra .358 from Lee and a sizer to make then .356. Then you got both covered.

Lots of people loading commercial cast 147's in the 9mm.. I don't see why a 158 wouldn't be able to be loaded.. I'd likely size them to .356 and load as usual.. Likely small charge of bullseye would do it. I am currently loading 158's in my 38 super 627 with 3.2 of 700x, bullets sized to .357 (since the S&W barrel likes that size) and I am making about 840 fps.. they are nice and soft shooting and accurate.

I am sizing down the Lee 158 FP bullet and loading them in 9mm with WST. Don't have the load data handy.

They shoot real soft out of my Glock 17L long slide.

Yep, shot 160+ gr boolits from both a Luger, and a P-38. Slug your barrel first, you may not do as much sizing as you think. I ended up sizing to .359" in the P-38, and that cured my leading headaches. Shot much better too. The bore slugged just under .358".

yeppers, I have, and they work okay. Ly 358311. In fact there is load data in Lymans 45th for this combination.

BE 3.0/869 3.5/961
RD 3.0/858 3.6/963
Unique 3.5/883 4.5/1039
Herco 3.6/840 4.6/1010

IIRC I used Unique. I've since acquired the RCBS 9mm-147 that I like better for the 9mm Luger.

Man, these are awesome responses. Thanks everyone. I have a mold on order and a "bunch" of commercial lead bullets that are "leading-up" my barrel. This info gives me something to play with.

I just bought a Lyman 147 gr bullet mould meant for the 9MM. It drops the bullets out at 156 gr when cast from WW alloy. I load them up with 2.7 gr of 231 and make IDPA PF of 125. Sweet! Very low recoil and they cycle my gun with ease.

The Lee 158 RNFP shoots very well from my Rugar P-89s. The feeding is unfortunately somewhat unreliable. My advice is check the feeding also with a full mag. make sure that all the rounds feed properly. The first round and the last 3 feed fine from mine but the middle rounds will often jam. No problems with the 147 grainers.
