I want to load these up light in 38 special cases for the misses. There are the little stackable 77g wadcutters someone was nice enough to give. Was thinking about 3 grains of red dot.

Anyone actually used these before or near them?

I have just gotten started using this itty bitty WC in a Martini using 38 cases. Wanted a fairly quiet load that will bring a squirrel right out of the top of a tree. First series was a flop. Started with 1&1/2 Bull and went up to 4 grains in a 5 step series. Looked like a shotgun pattern at 30 yards. Tried 4&1/2 and 5 grains and both had some decent groups that would stay on a squirrels head at 30 yards. Maybe the WW was too hard for light loads. Open to any and all suggestions that someone has had success with. I am NOT stacking these, just loading one per case.

Lyman #42

Bullseye - 1.5 - 560 fps - "Parlor load - 15 feet"

Lyman #45
#358101 - 75-gr. wadcutter
Bullseye - 2.0 to 3.0 - 607 to 788 fps
Unique - 3.0 to 5.0 - 577 to 842 fps
SR7625 - 3.0 to 4.0 - 469 to 570 fps
Accuracy load= Bullseye - 2.0 - 607 fps

Hope this helps.

5&1/2 Bull is the best accuracy so far in the .357 Mag rifle. It certainly is NOT quiet. Might try some Red Dot as suggested or ?????????
