Finally got some of this powder after reading about how good it is in the 44 and 357.
First, I noticed in the books there is no real min loading. Ok, I can handle that.
Second, do I NEED to use mag primers for normal shooting. I have read it helps alot in the colder climates.
Now, after all that I now the main thing is accuracy. That is the end result, without having to re-invent the wheel, I appreciate your info on this.

In regards to Magnum primers, some say yes, some say no. I use them. Winchester suggests the use of magnum primers with 296. Do not reduce powder charges below suggested levels.

No, I use a Federal 150 in my .44 and .45 for the best groups. Mag primers always triple group size for me.
I go to the mag primer in the .475 and 45-70 revolver but never in the .44. The WW primer works good in the .45 but not a full mag.
Too much pressure will just push a boolit out of the case before good powder ignition. Mag primers also put the pressure rise too soon to ignition.
You can also work 296 at starting loads up to max. Look at your manuals. The only caliber to NOT load starting loads with is the .454 with a SR primer.
