Hey ya'll i have a question and i think it belongs here.

I recently got a 195 grain NEI GCSWC mold i could not be happier however when i load up a dummy round it's long really long. 1.665 in long (yes my brass is trimmed) the round will fit in the cylinder of the cylinder does rotate just fine. So my question is i'm looking to work up a load with h110 is this bullet a good candidate? I"m of the mind set if it can rotate it's good, but my wife suggested i ask here for i go about blowing my hands off. :redneck:

So let me know what do you think?

the load i'm looking to load up isn't something amazing or earth shattering but id want something stout for when i'm walking in the wilderness and run up against something that wants to make a .357 sandwich

shoot this should be one forum up in wheelguns. Dang

Groo here
I have an SSK mold in 357 that is 200 gr..
Look in the lyman books and look up AA1680 powder...

Fill the case with the 1680, and take out enough to seat the boolit/bullet leaving a tad of air space. Compression will snuff out the peak of ignition of any FINE grain solid powder granules like this one has. ... felix

I shall look into it, I was also thinking experimenting with blue dot and a few other powders i have laying around here.

:-P 11 to 12 grains of H4227 always done me well with that boolit. :bigsmyl2:

I am getting good performance with the RCBS 200gn rifle boolit with 13gn 2400.
My gun is a Ruger Bisley so the cylender is long and thick. Other shorter thinner cylinders may not handle the load well so please work up to it if your gun allows.

i found this load and i'm hoping to get near a chrony to clock it

Boolit: 195358GC NEI WW + 2% tin
Powder: h110 12.5 grains
Primer: Remington SPM
Gun: 4 inch Ruger .357

I don't have a chrony but the 1 inch groups off hand made me happy. 13.0 grains started to get me flattened primers and a 13.5 made the little lip on the primer strike i think 12.5 h110 is my new walking in the woods load.

Thank goodness for CCI 450s. Flame thrower from hell! Works down to 158 grainers with 1680 but it works better with 180s on up. Even in my 4".

I load stiff charges of H-110 under a 182 grain custom boolit & also under a 190 grain RD in the .357 with good results. I also get great results from stiff charges of H-110 in the .44 mag. I think that it's a great powder for high end loads in the straight wall magnum pistol calibers.

The data on the front of the powder canister says that max charge for a 180 grain Nos Part in a .357 mag is 13.5 grains @ 1.575 coal. Expected velocity for that combo is 1396fps. I would expect your load to be near the 1200-1250fps range.

Thanks for the data!

I was actually surprised at the speed (lack thereof) from a S&W 19 4".......each Mean average represents 10 rounds at about 8' from the muzzle.............data collected over two months. This is an illustration only; use published loads.

"Book" load from older Winchester powder manuals was 12.4 grains of WW-296 under 200 grain lead boolits. It runs almost 1200 FPS using CCI-550 primers using Lyman #358430, in a Ruger BisHawk x 7.5". H-110 is VERY similar to WW-296, so your listed results are very similar to my own.
