I just sized and lubed up the first run of these 535gr boolits and wow do they eat up lube fast. What is a good plinker load with this boolit? The lyman book I have does not have any loads in 45/70 for this one. I'll load up some with Goex FF eventually but I want some light smokeless loads to try just for S&G's. I'm shooting these out of a Sharps.

Wonderwolf;

The heavy 457132 is not a "plinker" bullet; pretty much anything you shoot under this bullet will push you back, perhaps even kick you around some depending on your rifle's weight.

Around here we use 21 to 22 grains 4759 or 27 grains 5744 for general shooting at long range. For more information PM me.

I use 35gr Reloader 7 with a veggie wad and filler with FN 565gr boolits.

Got about 1280fps out of them. I was happy

Try 25 to 27 gr of AA 5744 that is what I use but I usually use a lighter bullet like in the 300 gr area for plinking loads. I save my heavy bullets for serious long range target shooting. By the way I have that mold and it shoots well in my Shiloh Sharps over 61 gr of FFG GOEX.
