I've just a nice tight, sharp NEI used NEI mould that has what appears to be traces of dirty lead in one of the cavities and in several areas of both faces. I've removed what I could with solvent and a soft but firm nylon bristle brush but there is still some tenacious stuff left. Any ideas on what procedure and snake oils might work?

If it is lead, I would think heat it up and then wipe it off. This works on my lee molds.

Unfortuneayely for the next few weeks I can't for logistical reasons. The "lead" actually appears to be more like slag/carbon.

The first thing I thought about trying worked: JB Non-Embedding Compound. It takes time but works and doesn't leave any scour or burnishing marks.

Soak it in Kroil for a few days.
