It's been shop modified/repaired from something else. It was probably a small precision equipment machine shop tool originally.

The Shell holder on the bottom is removable as is the tool on the ram. So I suspect it is more like a current single stage press, however ancient.

It's a press made from a old bottle capper. The beer brewers know what it is, they use one to cap bottles when bottling up a fresh batch.

Yep; Looks like someone burtchered up a bottle capper.

Must have been a hard decision to butcher the capper.:cry: I can think of nothing better than spending a afternnon at the range and going home proping up my feet, poping the top off of a good beer to relax.

Uh-huh, that looks pretty much like the kind of "small precision shop" tool I expected.
