Looking where to start. I have a No4Mk1* with a two groove barrel and rather than buying a mould I ordered some cast gas checked from Bullshop using his SAECO #305 design. Though large in the grooves (.316) barrel has good rifling and the total of 20 shots fired with Win factory ammo shot well....about 4 inches at 100yds with my bad eyes and rifles peep...better than I thought.
So where do I start with these cast boolits?? Hoping some of you can suggest powders that work for ya. Just looking for "moderate" loads to punch paper and see what this ol girl can do.
Any help will be appreciated

I have found Ed Harris's "the load" of unique and reddot to work very well in several rifles. The earlier 2400 "the load" has shown position sensitivity for myself and others.

I've been using 10 to 12 grains of Unique with a Lyman 314299 and a gas check. Sometimes I'll get 1 inch groups at 50m with a BSA SHT LE III.
Of course, I have more grooves than you. I hope your 2 groove shoots well.

For the two groove you may have to go with a real big bullet. For mine I was sizing down 323 bullets from the 8MM to 317. Another trick to try is to use cream of wheat filler over your powder in the 2 grooves. With COW I have shot 315 bullets in a 315 bore with good results. My go to load for 303 is 12.5 of Red Dot and a 160 to 180 grain bullet. The Lee spire point bullet made for the 762x39 works real well for a target bullet in my 303's but i did have t lap the mould and beagle it a little to get it to drop a big enough bullet. 10 grains of Unique is another good staryting load and for just plain fun plinking 9 grains of Trail Boss is dandy.

With the right cast bullet you will equall or exceed the 4" mark at 100 yards.

I tend to like IMR4227 and have been getting good results using Lyman 314299 lapped to 0.315" body x 0.305" nose for my fat Enfield.

The load is 19 grs. IMR4227 under the fattened 314299. I have just cast up some 316299 boolits with my new NOE mould and hopefully will be shooting some tomorrow.
