Far from drop in anything on a 1911.

Barrel will need to be fitted to slide and lower lug to frame, bushing will need to be fitted to barrel and slide...

Breech face is wrong, extractor won't reach. Need a 9mm/.38 Super slide.

I would enjoy the 45 acp and leave it at that.
You don't just swap a barrel and bushing and change the caliber.
Trust us --if it were I would be shooting 38 sup. also.
Like you were told very few parts for the 45 are true drop in--some may be close and some of the very basic parts may drop in if you are lucky.
The PT1911 I had was not made to true 1911 specs--pin size--hole size and placement.

The "Convertable" 1911 is a great idea on paper but you'll spend enough cash on the parts needed to make one that you'd really be better off buying a second 1911 in the smaller caliber.

Many, many years ago, my father built up a single frame .45 ACP, a .38 Super slide, barrel, and ejector. In addition, he had a .22 Conversion Unit. He had a pattern maker friend make a polished walnut case French fitted to all of the parts. He had to fit the ejector so it could be removed without tools.

It was a very practical working combination and shot decently with all three cartridges.

Then, Dad traded it for a 6.5" S&W .357 magnum (Model 27, NIB) that was VERY hard to get in 1950-55 and carried much higher than list price.

Another point. If you have the 9mm/.38 Super slide, you need the offset ejector installed
in the frame, too.

Oh, so true. Convertible sounds good, but for all the swapping slides and magazines, you're better off with a matching gun in the other caliber.
