David R

PM me for an adress. Price is the usual $50.00 Plus $6.00 shipping, PLUS $2.00 for our Boolit designer. Pic is in Post #25 of this http://www.castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=6665&page=2 thread.

Size is supposed to be .313 with all the crimp grooves and one fat lube groove.

No steenkin gas check!

I will send the order out when we hit 25 molds.

I am doing this because I like the boolit and want one.

David

Emptying out my PM box as you type.

David thanks for stepping up on this one. I got so busy around here I don't have the time I feel I need to put good effort towards this. Maybe I can return the favor this fall.
I will PM you. I also have the list I had from the other thread if you want it to conatact those that were interested.

Check going out this week for 1 mould. Thanks for putting this one together guys! I'm thinkin' this design might just be the ticket in my 7.62x39 if Lee hits the diameter close enough.

I shoot a lot of the group buy 311407 ahead of 13.5 grains of Red Dot. I hope this one will do as well with out the gas check. Ya never know till I fire it in the rifle.

311407 is a natural in my 1917 enfield. Useless in my Stevens 308.

311644 shoots great out of my 308 and just OK in the enfield. Its all a matter of fit.

Maybe it will shoot out of my 308? 32-20 10" contender?

Finding a good load from a 6 cavity mold is a slice of heaven.

Thanks for the post 452.1!

9 inquiries for my addy already.

A money order is in the mail. Thank you very much for honchoing this deal. It has finally dawned on me that gas checks are ridiculously expensive and not needed for most of my shooting.

They make sizing slower too. I think in the beginning when I started with cast boolits, a gas check was almost a guarentee of accuracy and no leading. I don't need it for lighter loads.

I am going to give this one a try in my 50 year old '94 with a bit of a rough bore. It shoots extreemly well with "checked" 311041's and soupcans but not at all with the same boolits without their checks.

I hope to work up a load with this bullet as cast and tumble lubed using BlueDot for an easy to mass produce all around plinking and whatever load. I have mostly been shooting 113 grain soupcans loaded over Herco as a nice, rather quiet, plinking load and I was quite impressed when I shot a 5", 10 round group from a bench @ 200 yards with them. If this bullet performs as well as the others I have tried I will be thrilled to have the 6 cavity production and ability to skip the lube-check-size routine.

Though not recommended for leverguns, I am able to use range pickup brass with Lee collet dies and only have one or two out of a hundred not chamber freely. Being able to skip the case lube step allows me to set up one of my Dillon 650's for 30/30 and produce a massive amount of ammo with little time or effort. This new mold will greatly enable me to speed the process.

PM sent to the Honcho.

A money order went out last week.
This will be my first nonGC bullet mold and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
I built my wife a boltaction 7.62x39 w/.308 bore and it likes the lee C309-150-F
w/GC. I bet this new mold will be just the ticket for her rifle.
Thanks for honchoing this deal.

Please do close the buy soon so that the order can be placed and we can get the molds. As was said, three months is long enough!

You could also order an extra 4 or 5 molds for people that will want one after the order has been placed. I am pretty sure you could leave this one open forever and there would be people that will continue to drift in.

The original announcement was that this was closed at the end of August, five weeks ago.

I did cut out of work for a while monday to try out Fecmech's STAR luber, but then got called out for a welding job.

Today I cut out at 4 P and felt guilty. It takes a lot of hard work to build a business.

I ran the Group Buy last month for the 311407 MOD 6 cavity.

They cashed my check for it on Dec 05th and I gave Lee a call today to make
sure they had everything they need --- they do and are still non-commital on any kind of delivery date.

Now for the not so good news --- I've got one of these 150gn 30CAL Plain Base on order with David R also.

As long as I was talking to them, I asked where that Group Buy was on their To Do List. As of today, Thurs. Dec 21, they do not have that order.

It would be good for him to check in, but I am thinking there may be extenuating circumstances. Sure, someone could rip people off on one of these deals for a few grand. But would it really be worth it? I doubt it. I don't know about you guys, but I have a pretty long reach with contacts from the highest, to the lowest. But I wouldn't be concerned here yet.
First off, someone search back through all the posts for this subject. It seems I saw a post on one of these deals, the honcho said he would not be posting any updates, until he heard back from Lee. Makes sense to me. I don't know if it was David or not.
I imagine people would feel rather small, if they should find someone had a bypass, or other misfortune, that took them out of the loop for awhile. I know if I had some misfortune, it would be very unlikely that you would hear about it, if my younger brother, an occassional board visitor, didn't think to come tell you about it. And, I doubt he would think of it. How many of us, have family members or friends, that know how much time we spend here? Very few, I imagine.
So, lets give this a bit of time, to see what develops. If it should turn to the worse, which I doubt it will, no amount of weeping and wailing will change things.

Feeling smaller already I quess small is only better in shot grouping.

I have tried to feel small and the 36" pants still feel tight on my 238 pound body, what do I do now?

Though I didn't post any "overly concerned" remarks, I may be in line to make some in the not too distant future............Yeah, I am in a fair mood due to the season and all but I generally have an about as bad or even worse an attitude about trouble as anyone.

I hope all is well everyone in this holiday season and I hope to receive my mold soon enough to enjoy it next year.

What I don't understand, is that on Nov 15 when David closed out this GB ---
he only had about 15 mins of work left to get this order into Lee.

Write the check out to Lee.
Address the envelope to Lee.
Put the check and drawings in the envelope.
Put some stamps on it and mail it.

Shouldn't take until the end of the year to do this.
I was hoping to cast some of these up over late winter.

...............What tells me that DavidR isn't out to mess with folks is that 1) He has been a valuable contributing member to this board for some time. 2) And most telling is that he has not cashed the checks sent him. He's not holding them hoping to get more as the buy is officially closed.

I do not know how hard it would be to check on a MO to see if its been negotiated, but that might not be a bad idea. Most MO's have an 800 info number.

What suggests trouble (not from DavidR) is that if the GB was closed on 11-15 and the checks and MO's haven't been cashed then something serious has overtaken David.

"I do not know how hard it would be to check on a MO to see if its been negotiated, but that might not be a bad idea. Most MO's have an 800 info number."

Take your PMO receipt (you DID save it, didn't you?) to the Post Office, or call them with the info, and they can run a trace to see if it has been cashed. (We are blessed with a great Postmaster and staff here, and they are very helpful with stuff like this.)

OK, now I read the last 2 pages.

Thanks for those that stood up for me. Thanks to everyone for putting op with me.

I have a garage. I am the sole worker. I also do welding for a few places. Well, since August, the welding is as much work as the garage. I need to decide if I am going to switch professions, or what. Doing both is wearing me out. Welding is MUCH more profitable.

I have only taked time out for loved ones. Not much shooting at all, molds are sitting on the bench calling my name.

I apologize.

Thank you Trpr Brett for the PM.

Sorry you don't make a whole bunch of somthing with out checking every so often through the process. I realize also that they are doing John Q public a favor I suppose in making custom molds.
I think the Lee fellow looks around here every so often. I am not trying to throw a fit and tick someone off. A reasonable answer to how this got out the door would some what please me. From what I can see of the bullet, you should be able to see it by looking at the block halves?
I mean damn fellows, that thing looks EXACTLY like I had envisioned when I asked about it to begin with. 452.1 could not have drawn it up any better if I had been standing there telling hiw what to do. To be quite honest the finished product looked better than I had anticipated. A versitile projectile if I do say so myself. TL type grooves for plinking and a REAL lube groove for more serious work.
I am done with my blah, blah and will shut the heck up.

He asked me what I was lubing the pins with, I told him boolit lube. He said send em back. I asked if he would pay the freight, he said yes if its the molds fault.

He also said they turned the molds on a lathe so they couldn't be that out of round and they guarentee to .001".

They went back today USPS. Cost $53.00. I included a copy of the packing list/invoice. I also left the boolits and sprue on the test mold when I sent them back.

Not part of the buy...but I'll take a stab at it...

I would say you have a serious alignment pin issue...IE they are either both extruding too far, or just the front one is...one of the test molds for the fat flat 44 buy showed this, and was easily fixed with a punch and beater.....I would say they have a heavy handed new employee on the arbor press or whatever they install them with. As far as the rebated/reverse meplate....now there is a mystery, that looks like simply bad machining...I cannot see that any other way.

How many molds did you try?

.311 across the bands
.300 to .301 on the nose.

Got mine today! Probably be a week or so before I can try it out. Just looking at the mold, it doesn't look like it has too much of the pictured flare on the nose. Won't know for sure until I cast some.

I too feel like I ought to kick in some for the postage to return to Lee. I'll keep watching to see how others handle this.

I assume when we get our mould there is a return address on it. So just send 5.00 to that address.

I got mine yesterday and I cast a few before an alignment pin backed out and held the mold open, which was awhile before I noticed it. Anyway, most of my production is egged and unuseable. Before that happened, I did cool one and measure it. 0.301" nose and 0.311" body, cut to look like the drawing except for some didling with the nose. All I have to do now is refit and pin the alignment pins, then I can try it again.

Like I have said before, it is just a matter of time before the pins loosen up, I just stake them in place and don't worry about it anymore. And Pat Marlin, if you even need any of these bullets I would be glad to make you some, soon as I get my mould. I never seem to have any cash flow problems. Don't have enough cash to make a flow, more like a trickle!

Yep, lots of chips, but looks nice. I cast some with it today, and the bullets drop great, and look pretty good. I didn't do a lot of measuring, but they weigh 140 gr with my alloy(mostly wheel weights, with some hard shot added). Sizing to .309 took very little effort. I loaded some for my K31, and will try them this weekend.

Thanks for sticking it out David.

Yep!! Got mine today.
Except for "drilling and taping the block for a simple steel setscrew for the cam to push against" is there anything else I need to do before using it? I will obviously lube and smoke it, but I think I saw where someone suggested staking the alinment pins in place. Is this correct?

Oh and by the way David, thanks for honchoing this buy.

I stake the pins in place and eventually set screw the pivot but I have never had to do anything to the cam surface. If it is tearing up your mould then you are letting the lead get too cool before cutting.

Thanks Springfield. I've heard about set screwwing the pivot also. I hope to give this mould a workout this weekend.

Got mine today at 95124, in California. Cleaned up the mould, staked the pins and cast a couple dozen. Measured out at 314 base, .311 body and .302 nose, using a soft (brinnell 9) alloy. Funny how a nice bullet shows so many flaws when magnified. I didn't even notice the line on the nose until I saw the enlarged pic. They dropped from the mould nice, and fillout was good, so venting is OK. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c262/mwhyte123/P1000428.jpg

If they made it to the UK, most of em must be out by now. I have heard no "I didn't get mine". I sent em all with delivery confermation. Couldn't use click and ship, my hard drive had crashed. I had 2 back up copies of the data base.

David, I've moved since the mold was ordered and it had to go through the PO's forewarding system. I'm still waiting for another mold that was shipped about a week ago. I think all the others I have ordered have my new address on the order.

This six month lead time from Lee does cause a few problems.

Thanks for running this group buy....you honchoes are conspiring to keep me broke.
