The BisHunter Project continues…. with very pleasing results

The Beginning. 45 Colt SBH Bisley Hunter, Weaver 2x28 Classic scope, LBT 350gr WFN boolit.

This pic is just after I got the gun. Bore is .451, I could not shove a .452 boolit through the cylinders, I added a belt mtn base pin. Load is 350-355gr (with gas check) cast with wheel weights from an LBT custom mould with an 80% metplat, water dropped, sized to .452. over 21gr H110.

Well, I got my hands on a reamer and reamed the throats to .4525. I had gone up to 21.5 gr. H110 in the load and they grouped great in my 4" Redhawk. I went to the range today with 12 at 21gr and 12 at 21.5gr and here's how they shot. I'm pretty stoked. This is definitely a shooter!

21gr. Much better! The first 3 shots at 25yds blew my mind! 25 and 50yds

Now for the 21.5gr load. Wow, mission accomplished! 25 and 50 yds.

I've found the load…. 355gr Hammer lubed with my homemade beeswax/vaseline/??? lube , 21.5gr H110, Starline brass, CCI 350, nice firm crimp.

Next time to the range I'll get the scope dialed in and when it warms up I'll get the crony out and see what they do. Did I say I'm pretty stoked :D What fun getting this thing dialed in.

That's a very nice looking revolver and some great groups. I have the Bisley 44 Mag with the roll-marked cylinder, but not a Hunter version.

I didn't know they made a Bisley grip with the integral scope mount. Cool.

Looks like reaming the throats cut your group size almost in half. I reamed my 45 Bisley but have yet to shoot it to compare before and after groups.

Very good and it will get better.
I have to ask if the brass was new. The few shots out look like a neck tension issue with new cases. I think after 3 or 4 loadings those will go away.
The Hunter is a wonderful gun and I am glad you are doing so well and posting nice pictures, congratulations, nice job! [smilie=s:

Thanks for the input there 44man, yes, it is new Starline. I'll reload the same cases next time out and see how it does.

Question. This is the first scoped handgun I've ever owned and I plan on hunting bear and moose with it here in Alaska. Should I sight it in dead on a 50 yds? Is there any "standard" or more just personal preference for the application.

I usually sight in 1" high at 50 yards or dead on at 75 but that is for deer where I might get a 100 yard shot. You will probably be shooting closer for bear so 50 would be good.
A little high at 50 will not affect you enough to worry about at any distance though. We are only talking an inch and I have no problem hitting deer from 10 to 100 yards, no need to aim high or low. The .44 and .45 are pretty flat shooting to 100 but they drop fast after that.
