Thought it'd never happen! I'm happy to introduce my grand daughter, Adelyn Christian Phillips. Born 3-3-10 at 0511. She was about a month premature. She weighed 5lbs 5oz, 18" long and perfect in every respect. A good set of lungs for being so new :-)

Apparently she wouldn't cry at first but was obviously having no problems in breathing. Christian said she tried to open her eyes 3 or 4 times and then finally busted out in a caterwaul. I suppose she realized she was in a new place much different from the last, and it did not favorably compare? :violin:

Since she was a bit premature she's being kept in the NICU although she isn't oxygen tented, intubated or anything else. She'll be released as soon as she will eat an ounce at each feeding. At the 1800 feed this evening she took 6cc's so she's working on it. Christian will be able to leave tomorrow at noon. Hopefully Adelyn will be able to leave this weekend.

Congratulations to Mom and the rest of the family!!!

I have four -- two of each.

Seems grandchildren have an abundance of a mystical quality that your children never had. Could it be a grandparent's maturity?

Congratulations Buckshot!

Being a Grandpa ain't all that bad....in fact, being a Great Grandpa ain't that bad either.
Seems one never gets tired of welcoming these little fellers into the world and explaining to them how the two of you are ready to take it on, no matter what.
It just don't get no better, ya gotta love it!

There ain't nuthin better than grandkids! Mine is a 6 YO boy. Now you MUST follow the grandpa code and get even with your kid! Spoil her rotten, get her on a sugar high and then you get to send her home! Somehow I don't think that will be a problem! She's already got you wrapped around her little finger! Have fun!

Congratulations, Rick. Grandkids are such a blessing - it can be comforting, sometimes, to remember that sooner or later they have to go home, but by and large, they are swell!

And if she inherits her Mom's red hair you will REALLY have to beat the boys off with a stick!

Being a grandparent is great, all the fun with none of the worry. When you give them back to their mam and dad spoilt rotten it helps your kids understand many things. :D

Boy, I dunno.

This little gal has destroyed some of my illusions. I thought you were MUCH too young and slim to be a Grand-dad. Just goes to show that I haven't been paying proper attention, I suppose.

This little sweetie is going to cut a WIDE swath through your affections, and we wish all of you the very best. We hope to meet her someday.

Don't know how I missed this yesterday. Congratulations, Grandpa! Welcome to Grandpawism! I've got six and they're all wonderful. I hope they live close enough to you that you can share in their growing up and in their upbringing. Believe me, it's really hard waiting for them to get big enough to go to the shop with you. Contact me later and I'll give you info on getting child-sized safety glasses.

That's an old wives tale, about spoiling them and sending them home.
I've got four and they spend more time with me and Maw Maw than at home. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Life as you thought you knew it, is history. This is what all your past has prepared you for.
Love her and hold her tight, cause too soon she will sprout wings.

.............To all of you my good friends here on the board, thank you VERY much for the good wishes and thoughts and I appreciate them each, one and all. I have been looking forward to being a "Gran'pa" for some time, and for awile I thought I might never get to experience it.

Well I'm happy that I now get to join that honored rank. Donna and I were very lucky raising Christian, and as you know they do NOT come with an owners manual so all we could do was our best. I don't know what we did right, but she was a delightfull child and has turned into a productive thoughtfull adult for which I thank God daily.

I still get a bit teary thinking back on that beautifull little face looking up and saying, "Daddy". Now I get to experience it all over again:bigsmyl2: Of course I have to share her with Gran'pa Bob! But Bob and Linda did a super job raising their son and he's a keeper. Poor little Adelyn. Two complete sets of grandparents within 5 miles, YEESH!

I have to get busy drawing up some plans for a playhouse, and girl or not I HAVE to build a go-kart too!

Thank you all for sharing in my joy!

Congratulations Buck! Best wishes to you, Mrs Buck, the little one, Mom, Dad, the whole family! A word of warning though, one grandpa to another- those little ones will worm their way into your heart in nothing flat, it's great! The really neat thing is when they smell real bad or are really cranky you can just hand them off to Mom.
