Well finally I got a good load for my Luger in 30 Luger caliber. First the pistol...it's a P08 Luger commercial model in caliber 30 Luger with 3 5/8 inch barrle and all matching and all stock including the lousy sights.

The load is the Lee 100 gr 30 caliber cast bullet overtop 4.0 grs of Winchester 231. The alloy is WW's aircooled.

Distance was 25 yards, 10 shots, standing up resting off my lower garage retaining wall...not exactly benchrest and not exactly off hand. That's about a 2 inch group with one flyer out to the 9 o'clock position.

I've put about 500 rounds through this pistol to finally come upon this load.

Nice work, Joe. My "Ruger Luger" (P-89C with swap barrel) won't consistently equal that work--maybe 1 or 2 five-shot groups did that well, but not consistently. The Ruger's sights are a LOT better than those P-08 things, too.

I've used that 4.0 x 231 load with Hornady 86 grain SP's, Lyman #313249, and Lee 100 RN. It's a good one in my pistol, giving reliable functioning with the lighter recoil spring. The Lees go about 1025-1050 FPS from my 4.25" barrel, and do the best work of any cast boolit in this pistol.
