I'm in the process of setting up to load for my newly acquired 1868 Springfield. I like to keep my kit simple if I can so I rather like the Lee type trimmers. Unfortunately Lee does not make one for this case. I'm thinking I could have an RCBS or Lyman shell holder modified to fit the Lee spud and make a guage from a piece of rod to fit on the 50 cal cutter. Or I could just thread the hole in the shell holder and make a spud to fit. Any comments?

Darn! I really need a lathe.

I had Lee make me a odd ball trimmer a few years back .

CUSTOM CASE LENGTH GAUGE (http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1151191143.5976=/html/catalog/custom.html#CUSTOMCASELENGTHGAUGE)

Mine was $19 with shipping .

Talk to them , I bet they can fix you up .

I've had Lee make a trimmer for my .45-2.4" Sharps. They will make a "Custom Case Length Gauge". The problem with the .50-70 is that they don't have a shell holder that will fit and I don't believe they will make a custom shell holder. That requires a bit more machining. I will check.
