Fellas,

I just traded for a NEF 45/70. I haven't even got my bench set up yet, in over two years. I think I have a die set but I know I don't have any boolits. I'm not looking for any 500 gr solids just some 300 ish that shoot well or even a mold number from Lee that may be quicker than begging.

It's been a while since I posted but I'm still just,

Mike, finally at the Roost..

He is organising a group buy on a 45 cal lightist boolit. I was going to order one, but my mate's bleating has got the better of me and I sold him my 45/70 (the lever that is, I wouldn't be without one, I still have the BPCR). Mick.

A lot of us have the Lee 405 gr mold as a pretty good "all around" bullet.....

I have a Handi Rifle myself so I'd be interested in hearing about your results with your's...

..............So far as I'm concerned one of the best 'light' 45 cal rifle boolits would be the RCBS 45-300 GC. I've also had some pretty good results with the Lyman 292gr FNPB. My copy of the Lyman casts a bit smaller then I'd like at .458" and I have to use some fairly hard (like 16-18 bhn) alloy to get that. I'm sure not going to shoot away any lino looking for larger!

I have a lee hollow base 405 gr. mold that works well but my favorit boolit is the RCBS 45-325-FN It shoots real well in my handy rifle and also in my marlin and Sharps rifles using both smokeless and black powders. My favorit plinking load for the handy rifle and marlin's is that boolit and 29 gr of AA 5744

Both the 340 Lee and the 405 Ohas that I cast shoot fine in my rifle over loads of 2400, with anyware from 18-26 gr. 26gr. under the 405 with the nose softened did a real nice job on a good Texas bore last year.
