I put a set of XS sights on my guide gun, and I do not like the rear peep sight. The large one seems too skinny and I haven't put the smaller one on yet, but it is thicker.

I am thinking about seeing if I can drill and tap the the smaller one for an adjustable Merit aperature. The one that fits the Williams FP is a larger thread than the one for the Marbles tang sight.

Has anyone done this? I am going to order the one for the Williams for a friend so I can see if it will work.

crabo,

The Williams uses 7/32-40 tpi, and Marbles uses 10-32 tpi.

They are a "Ghostring Sight", not a "Peep sight".
You are not supposed to see the ring in focus, its only there (the fuzz) for something for your eye to center the front sight in.

Check the link above, Buffalo arms has these (Hadley Eye Cups)
w/ differing threads. If you can't find what you want, just call XS and ask if they can make you one w/ the size hole you want.
They do/will make different height front sights so, I would assume they could make a custom rear also.

Why not just buy the correct XS aperture from Brownells for $12.00

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=48892/sku/_649__Threaded_Ghost_Ring_Aperture

The ghost ring is threaded internally for 7/32-40 so it accepts Williams apertures. Have several of them and they work great. For the Marlin Levergun mount I go with the long shank Williams aperture so it clears the mount a bit.

Here's a couple pics of one I just put on a VZ 24.

You make it too easy!
