I thought I'd show off some of my bullets.

These bullets are swaged from 22 shorts, and weigh 40 grs.

I'm working on pictures.
Kinda tuff with my arm in a sling.
Another week and I can ditch the sling.

Hickory;

Good looking bullets and pictures.

The 40 grain ones would be the ticket in a Hornet or Bee and the 56 grains ones are perfect in the 223. I tried some in the 22-250 and Swift 30 years ago and all I got was a blue vapor trail for a hundred yards or so and seldom an impact with the intended target. They just disappeared.

I just let the grandkids shoot up the last of my 52 grain home made bullets a couple weeks ago. I haven't made any in several years, guess I'll need to dust of one of the die sets and make some more.

Elk hunter,
I've been shooting prairie dogs with these bullets since the early 80's.
They are not match bullets, but will stay close to 3/4" at 100 yds. with a
good rifle. Good enough to do the job at 300yds. in my 223.

Hickory,

I'm curious what the shape of your point forming die is. The bullets look close to a 6S shape but my 6S doesn't push the lead that far to the bullet tip. When I use shorts for jackets and make a bullet that looks like yours they come out at 45 gr.

Well, you got me wondering. So, I had to go out to my Shop and check.
The box said 40 grs. and I weighed 3 of them and they weighted 40.2grs..
I have the S-6 point also. I think I push the bullet farther into the die to get the lead to pertrude for the lead tip.

The bases of the bullets do not show the dent where the firing pin struck to fire the cartridge. Did you take an extra step to make sure that it was removed? Mine still have a trace of the dent.
Great looking bullets!

Deltaenterprises: Look again, the firing pin marks are around the corner on the bevel of the bullet heel. Just visual, no problem.

Really nice tips...I've yet to be able to get tips like that. Do you use another die after your point form?

Hickory

Wonderwolf'
After forming the point so that a little lead protrudes I use a lead tip forming die.
After they have been tumbled they look pretty good.
