I was looking at the Russian 2400 equivelant that Bartlett has. He said it is extruded and is slightly slower than 2400.

Is this what people were calling surplus 4759??

Has anyone used this with cast in the 30-06?

At one time Hi-Tech had milsurp 4759. I tested mine against cannister 4759 and it ran within a few FPS of the cannister lot. It came from pulled down frangible .30 MG rounds. I bought 28 pounds when they had it and haven't been sorry.

I don't think this is the same stuff./beagle

Jeff Bartlett had true milsurp 4759 (or its equivilent) several times over the last 10-15 years Last batch was probably 3-5 years ago..

That is what what we are calling Milsurp 4759.

If I were guessing the source of PD Milsurp 4759 I think I would look at M-60 blanks.

Then what the heck it is a WAG.

I saw that components will no longer be destroyed. Hopefully Jeff can get back up to supplying we addicts full speed ahead again!

The problem is, that powdervalley has 2400 for 108 per 8# jug and Jeff's surplus price is 100 per 8 pounds

I have 4 pounds of 2400, but have found a more accurate load with SR4759. I was just checking if Bartlett's was the surplus 4759.

I'll keep looking for a buy, but they seem rare these days.

That's a problem???

It sounds more like a $108 solution to me.

thats whats kept me away from it. I cant see working up a load with a powder that only saves me 10 bucks just to have it dry up and have to start over again.

I agree with you guys, if you cant save at least 25% of the cost of canister, why buy pulldown with the attendant work ups and risks?

I agree that the price difference does not make them worth the time and effort for load development when canister powders are just a few $ more. I make up my savings be going by Powder Valley three times a year. I have to drive to ICT three times each year for recurrant training at work so the boss is paying for the gas for my trip.

I agree!! Surplus and Surplus/Pulldown has become so close in price to canister that I have gone to canister as well. For $20 difference on a 8 lb. keg why bother with surplus.

It used to be half when I got started using it. Some old-timers say about 20% of canister. That was when canister was CHEAP!! Purchased it in paper bags or Chinese take out cartons from heavy duty cardboard kegs.

Extruded 2400??

The pulldown SR7641 (SR 4759 Clone) that Bartlett had several years ago was short, extruded, brassy colored grains with a hole in the axis. Like tiny brass donuts

Wish I had more although there is enough for a while.

Shiloh, I double checked Jeff's description, it is extruded. But Midsouth has SR4759 for $130, Jeff is asking $100 for his. Not enough savings unless I can get friends to buy and share the hazmat cost.

Looks like if the demand is high so goes up the price for these sellers. Last "NEW" #8 jug I bought was only $54, and never payed more than $80 for one. IMO it is not worth it just go to Powder Valley.

I do hope that milsurp powders become more available again, and that their pricing returns to more reasonable levels. A 10% or 20% price differential between milsurp and commercial canister propellant is kind of false economy, as others above have pointed out.
