First time shooting this rifle with this scope and first time shooting it with my own cast bullets. This rifle has a Dayton commercial single stage trigger. Scope is a NcStar 4x32 handgun scope. I've decided I won't buy any more of the 4x32 as its just not as forgiving on eye relief as the 2-7x32 scopes and 4x just isn't as good as 7x. This rifle does show great potential with cast bullets. I like it a lot.

This first cast bullet is from Wayne Doudna. Lyman 323471 220 grain .324". I've not had any luck with this bullet in the K98k, Gewehr 98 or Swedish 1889 rolling block 8x58RD. Maybe I shot them on bad hair days. I dunno. Load was 15.8 grs Swede Gallery Powder (like Unique). Turkish military Berdan primer corrosive. Lee crimp.
Four shots into one hole ain't too shabby for a preliminary test fire. It shows great
promise.

This bullet is also purchased from Gardner's Cache. Its a 170 grain flat nose .323" .32 Winchester Special bullet. Powder was 12 grains of some very very old 700X. Overall length: 2.925". Lee crimp.

My own cast are Lyman 323470 that drop at .325". There were unsized but put through a Lyman 4500 .325" die to seat the gas check and lube with BAC. We already know its not the rifle or the shooter. This rifle just doesn't like this bullet at this diameter. I may size them to .324" but I'll try .325" in the Gewehr 98 and Swedish 8x58RD rolling block first. Load was 14.2 grs Swede Gallery Powder (like Unique).

This target was a lot better but obviously there was something remiss with the first target attempt. These were the only two targets shot with this bullet in this rifle.

Same bullet but .324" purchased from Wayne Doudna. Load was 12 grains 700X in Turkish military cases Berdan primed corrosive. Could it be the powder type and charge? Yeah, could be. So here's another variable I'll double check.
