Hello everyone, I managed to get my hands on some 205 grain GC CB's in .313 but I don't have any reloading information. I ordered the Lyman's 3rd edition handbook but it won't be here for a bit and I want to make some ammo for this weekend (tomorrow). I read a guy on another forum is using 24-28 grains of Varget in his No.I Mk.III but everywhere else I look says say within 17-21 grains of medium to fast burning powder. I promised the wives I'd play it safe and not blow myself up so any help would be appreciated. ~G Hussein.
edit this is for my Enfield noI mkIII that slugged to .312

I'd suggest checking Steve Redgwell's site for load data: http://www.303british.com/
A whole bunch of other good info there, too!

I have been getting good results with no high pressure signs using 18 to 20 grs. of IMR4227 and the Lyman 314299 at 200 grs. I have used this load with and wihout filler. Gas checks without filler and not wearing gas checks with filler.
10 to 13 grs. of Unique works well too ~ gas checks and no filler.
Both quite mild loads and good accuracy.

Ed Harris's Cast Boolits in Military Rifles is still the best starting point for these types of loads, a classic piece of cast boolit writing.
Its a sticky at the top of this forum and here is the link:

I still have a copy of the original article in Handloader's Digest / 1994 Thirteenth Edition.
Worth getting a hold of.

The original title of the article was "Cast Bullets are best in Surplus Military Rifles".

Hi Gurpreet Hussein; I use 20 grs of 2400 under the 314299 bullet with GC sized .313.
Mild load, but works well for deer hunting. Consistent 2 IN groups at 100 yds from my
I indian MK1. webfoot
