No, not asking that you take her out on the town...

I have an older IDEAL 358156 GC single cavity mold in prisitine shape.

It is stamped "IDEAL 358156 413" on the mold.

I know it cannot be dated exactly.

When did Lyman take over and start labeling the molds "Lyman" and stop the "Ideal"? (When was the last few molds stamped "Ideal"?

This will at least give me an era of manufacture.

I just looked in my Ideal 1948 book and the mold is not listed. It isn't even listed in there special section of molds, these are molds listed that are already out of date in 1948. So it is even older that that! Best regards, John the toolman.

cheese1566,

I bought an old Ideal 308291 (the prehistoric number for today's 311291), and inquired of Lyman when they quit using the Ideal name. The reply was "sometime in the sixties".

in prisitine shape.

Don't care what she looks like. Does she have a good personality? How well does she ..ahem.. put out?

I`ve gleaned hard for the "change" of the names & it was 1958 when IDEAL officially became LYMAN .

I Think.

Thanks, that would easily make her at least 50 years old.

send Floodgate a pm. He can tell you when things happened. he is on eof the best with ideal/marlin/lyman and the various owners of those companies. The company has a very interesting history.

You will also neet to let him know if it has vent lines or not.
