Putting a "draft" on the bottom metal?

When putting a draft on the trigger guard, how far up the side do you go. Do you draft the entire side or just the bottom half, learning the top half parallel with the top of the bottom metal? Inquiring minds want to know?

Back in the day when I had my shop and did a fair amount of inletting I used to put a slight amount of draft on the entire side of the guard. It just seemed to give me better results.
