Anyone have any experience loading the Lee 310 grain RF GC in the .44 Special? I'm a sucker for heavy boolits, and while I don't own a .44 Magnum, I have a .444 Marlin rifle (for which I originally bought the mold) and a .44 Special N-frame. I'm hoping to add one of the .44 Special Blackhawks to the collection before too long.

I'm not looking to turn the .44 Special into a magnum, but I'd like to fool around a bit with the heavy boolit in it. I want enough oomph to use it for deer when hunting season rolls around again in November (hopefully I'll have the Blackhawk by then). Anyone have any experience loading this, or other 300+ grain boolits in it?

I would like to use 2400 for my expermentation, but I have some other powders on hand to include:

H4227
HS-6
AA#5

Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Thanks!

You might have a stability problem. The boolit really needs some velocity to spin enough. The same problem exists with the .44 mag when trying to use light loads.
They will be OK for short range.

I would wait until you get the Blackhawk. I would sure hate to see you ruin the N -frame.
44Man is right you need to shoot that bullet at 44 Mag velocity.
